John William Cameron

John William Cameron, 60, of 104 Pen Oak Ct., Greer, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, August 1, 2009, at his residence.

Born in Norristown, Pa., he was a son of Regina Brennan Cameron of Gainesville, Ga. and the late James John Cameron. He was also the son-in-law of the late George T. Forrester.

Mr. Cameron served his country as an officer in the U.S. Army. He was a Lumpkin County Georgia High School graduate, graduate of North Georgia College and University, Class of 1971, where he was elected Who's Who Among American Colleges and Universities, and a graduate of The University of Georgia, Class of 1976, with a Masters Degree in Business Administration. He was employed with Burlington Industries and joined the Michelin family in 1984, where he worked for over 24 years. John built strong working relationships and friendships. His first assignment was to assist in transferring the Sales Administration and Support activity to Greenville from New York. John spent most of his career in Sales. He was Director, International Sales and also managed several corporate accounts and large retailers. Most recently John worked as a Demand Planning Manager. Mr. Cameron was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church.

Surviving are his loving wife of 38 years, Barbara Forrester Cameron; daughter, Genna Ruth Cameron of the home; two sons, Darien James Cameron of Greenville, and Brennan Truett Cameron of Greenville; three sisters, Suzanne Flowers and husband, James P., of Roswell, Ga., Marilyn Joyner and husband, Fred, of Clemons, N.C., and Janice Cobb and husband, Clift, of Alpharetta, Ga.; two brothers, James Cameron and wife, Betsy, of Lexington, N.C. and Mark Cameron and wife, Denise, of Gainesville, Ga.; two grandchildren, Kayla Bellofatto and James Cameron; nieces, Staci Carpenter, Laura Lowry, Allison Vickers and Jessica Joyner; nephews, Ron Green, Patrick Flowers, Bryan Cameron, David Cameron, Kevin Cameron, Jordan Cameron, Jay Cobb and Evan Cobb; mother-in-law, Geneva R. Forrester of Gainesville, Ga.; brother-in-law, George T. Forrester of Gainesville, Ga.; sister-in-law, Ruth Ann Forrester and husband, Henry Liebling, of Atlanta, Ga.; and all the special friends, who have blessed our lives over the years.

A gathering of friends to celebrate the life of John will be held Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 4 p.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church.

Due to the great passion and years of service on the board as Director and Treasurer of Camp Spearhead Inc., the family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials and donations be made to this camp for the mentally disabled, 4806 Old Spartanburg Road, Taylors, SC 29687.
